Hm. Tell her to make sure they're in the right folder, of course...

Also, sometimes my thing says INSTALL SUCCESS! YAY! or whatever, but when I look at the small details, it says it actually FAILED and to make sure my game's patched properly (which it never is, alas Steam...)

So make sure she's patched it.

Other than that I'm not sure.

I had this too. I solved it by:

1. Moving my Mods folder onto my desktop while installing.
2. When it said "success" I went into my DC Backup (found in 'electronic arts - the sims
3- DCBackup' and sorted it by 'date modified'.
3. Copied the latest installed files and put them into my packages folder.

The .package files in your DCBackup folder are basically the .package version of the .sims3pack you just installed.

(I'm not sure it's the same way Vana said, but it's my way and it worked - though it does clog up your packages folder)

Also, it might be helpful to try and rename the .package version because it comes up with a strange name like 0x0a0d1dbc076cb383473dce1b3ff60a65.package
