PostSubject: Newbie at Modeling, Advice Needed   Mon Dec 24, 2012 12:57 am

I decided to take a crack at trying out modeling. So far, I'm on the portfolio part, which I'm still kinda stuck on.

This is my best one so far:

I've been following the Modeling 101 guide.

I'm still stuck on trying to figure out how to tilt the picture sideways.

But also, then I get pictures that the lighting is horrible. Like this:

Bah. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, so any advice would be great

Well, IDK what you did wrong with your second picture as far as editing goes since the lighting is great on your first picture.

Did you use the invisible lights (not the cieling ones) in buydebug? Just place those at *just the right* spot so she is lit up enough or you can get a different lighting effect (if you like the look of it) by DABBING the dodge tool with the fuzzy brush (on highlight or mid tones, depedning on what you like. I highlight.) on key parts of the sim's face/body. If doing this, the picture SHOULDN'T be completely lit up. It gives a more intense shadow/lit kind of look, like this:

And to tilt the picture, you just press shift a to go one way, or shift d to go the other way when in tab mode. Tilting it almost 90 degrees is how I took my picture since it reduces white space. You may also have to use your mouse wheel and the q button (which brings the screen down) to take the picture at the perfect angle.

Also, I highly suggest you check out Kali's co-op model comp which is aimed at newbies. There are mentors that help simmers like you to perfect their editing skills and basic modeling skill. I'm a mentor .
