My first hair drawing. What do y'all think?

This is my model Noah wearing my first hair drawing. I used one of the in game short hairs as a template and then went to town doing my own thing. So what do you all think? Is it good enough for competition or not? I def dont want to lose points for a crap job.

He are so steep and it doesn't real. Otherwise, it's beautiful.

I would work on the strands and colors a bit more before using it in a competition, but you are headed in the right direction

@Bliss do you think this one might be competition worthy. I think the strands look a ton better.

I would try to blend the bases of the strands into his hair at his scalp, and add more strands because it's looking pretty sparse.

Pretty good start. I agree with Bliss and Vana, maybe try blending it make the strands and closer to the scalp and add more strands. As well, don't forget about dodging(for shine) and burning for some final touches

I did work on it using the critiques given just haven't posted it, and thanks cutebina. I haven't worked much with dodge and burn. I have a basic understanding of it , but haven't ventured to use them yet so I will use them for this.

So how do you blend hair strands? I've been using a smudge tool. Is that right or is there another tool I should be using? I have photoshop so the Gimp tutorials dont help me any.

When they said that I think they meant more along the lines of drawing the different colors of hair overlapping each other so that the colors blend better. Not literally blending them with the smudge tool. Lol I think

That does look better, But try to imagine 1 point your hair is trying to go since you are shaping it upward.

This ofc does not always apply to all hair shapes but for instance...Imagine your focal point is the top center of the hair. Give the hair some flow and curves

You should have the strands going in that one direction. You have strands on the side of the head that are kinda doing there own thing.

I can see I still need more work on the blending and the dodge/ burn tools.

I thought you might be interested what it looked like after I used the tutorial. I had no clue what I was doing (Lol). I used no layers in mine yada yada blah blah blah...
So this is after using the tutorial. I thought it turned out great. I just need to work on shape and the highlighted strands, but thought this was loads better then my previous work. Thank you, thank you, thank you , littlesmirk, for the link
