LE World of Makeup Empty LE World of Makeup

Welcome to LE World of Makeup. This tutorial is something I've wanted to do for awhile, and will be using it in conjunction with my school. Here I will be teaching a few tips and tricks into getting beautiful makeup for those modelling pictures. This method is great for those who don't like to use CC, but still want to WOW with the makeup or like to get creative and produce something unique and fabulous.

I found that since first starting to learn how to draw makeup with Cashing's tutorial when it first came out and improving since then by trial and error, that my makeup CC has gone down to just a few pieces of my own and from the game.

A few brushes that can aid you when first learning how to draw makeup are these handy brushes that you can get for Gimp or Photoshop:

Eyeshadow
Eyelashes
Lipgloss kit

This tutorial focuses on a brief overview of the eyeshadow and eyelash brush set. As you become more comfortable, you will find drawing the makeup free hand to be a lot easier.

All of the tutorials will be done in Photoshop, but it should be easy to convert it to GIMP fairly easy.

Open up your picture (preferably a headshot) and zoom in. You will want to have an enlarged space to see how the makeup looks as you apply it.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Create a new layer and then open up your brushes and select one of the eyeshadows and pick your color.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Place the eyeshadow. Resizing and positioning the eyeshadow will be necessary so make sure you placed it on the new layer. Once you have placed it, duplicate the layer to make it a bit darker.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next choose your eyeshadow and follow the same steps as the eyeshadow: A new layer>Place it>Resize and position> Duplicate it to make it thicker. After you have placed and positioned the eyelashes, you can now merge the layers and you are done.

Admittedly, I should have made the eyelashes black. And if you have any gaps that positioning didn't solve, use a basic brush and fill in the area.

This Tutorial focuses on creating a casual everyday look. For this I drew the eyeshadow and lipgloss free hand. And then I used the lipgloss brush and eyelashes brush.

Open up your picture, zoom in and create a new layer.

Choose your color and with the fuzzy brush draw over the eyelid. Since this is casual wear, I chose something that would be light.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next use the Gaussian Blur to make it appear more blended into the skin. For anything that spills over, a quick touch up with the erase tool will take care of that.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next, on the Layers menu on the sidebar where it says Normal, click on that for the drop down menu and near the bottom it has an Option for Color. Click on that. The eyeshadow will lighten in color and blend more into the skin of the sim creating a beautiful casual look for your model.

Now we can move on to the lips. Create a new layer for the lips and using the fuzzy brush (you can use a lowered opacity and just thicken it up to your desired amount) go along the lips.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Now for this, it isn't necessary to use the lipgloss brush. I did by creating a new layer, setting the color to white and applying the lip gloss brush to the top and bottom lips. I then used Gaussian blur to blend it in (Not Shown)

As the same with the eyeshadow, use the Color Adjustment to lighten the color and blend it in. The effect is a light gloss for your model's casual wear look.

Apply your eyelashes and Tada!

So for everyday looks would you suggest lighter/neutral color schemes?

This tutorial is going to focus on getting a glittery eyeshadow, perfect for those evenings out. The tutorial will also have a small embellished eyeliner. Nothing to drastic. As well as eyelashes, brightening the eye whites and lipgloss.

First up, open up your picture and zoom in on the eyes. Again, this will be done in PSE. Create a new layer. Select the fuzzy brush and size it accordingly. Choose your color. I chose black and then draw on the eyelid.

A key thing to remember is that the makeup doesn't have to look the same for both eyes. It's just like real life, sometimes there's a bit of difference. Go over to the layers menu, and where it says Normal, click it and select Color. The black should become grey and look more blended in.

Next duplicate the layer. Go to the Layer Menu again, but this time choose Overlay from the drop menu. Under Filters go to Add Noise. Make sure the monochromatic is checked. This is what is going to make your glitter. The setting I have here is perfect for the glitter effect.

Erase any little bits spilling out into the eye or surround skin and then go to the layer menu again. This time adjust the opacity. I have it at about 8% opacity. This will create your glittery eyeshadow.

Now we can move on to the eyeliner and brightening the eyes. Create a new layer. Using the fuzzy brush, draw the eyeliner around the eye. For the embellishment, I added a small tail to it. After your get it as you'd like it, duplicate the layer and position the eyeliner over the other eye, or create a new layer and draw the eyeliner over the other eye. After getting both eyes done, I went to the background layer (the one that had the sim and is locked). Using the paint bucket tool and the color white, I filled in the whites to brighten them.

Next, we added in the eyelashes. Create a new layer. And select your eyelash brush. Choose the color black and position the top lashes and bottom lashes to both eyes (make sure to create a new layer for each, as you will need to angle and position each one.

Now we can move on to the lips. Much like the tutorial above, you want to create a new layer. Choose the fuzzy brush and color in the lips. You want a darker color than the everyday. One way to do this is by playing with different colors and overlaying them, or duplicating the layer after you select the Color Adjustment option from the layers drop down menu and then overlaying the duplicated layer. It's a bit of trial and error to get it how you want it to look. And for the added shine, create a new layer and then add a bit of white with a fuzzy brush. Use Gaussian blur to blend it, and then on the layers menu, adjust the opacity.

The final result

To my Students: Please choose one of the following for the final part in the Makeup Lessons. In the first option, black is the only requirement, the second color is your choice. In the second option, you don't need to use those colors, but they should offset one another.
