How to Create Rhinestone (crystal) Body Art

I'm going to make this the easiest I can make it.

First, you need a couple of brushes.

If you have GIMP, you can convert the abr files into gimp files.

This brush will give you a nicely round dot, and you can use them as a string of pearls as well with the right effects. (Bevel and Emboss)

This brush for the rhinestone effect

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

You can convert the brushes using this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

or following this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Ok, so first thing you want to do is open the program and pull up your model.

Then create a new layer.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next, zoom in to make it easier to see how it will look. Then open your brushes and select the pearls brush and choose a color from the palette of what color you want the crystal (rhinestone) to be. And then start placing them in a pattern. The colors will be different as you place them.

Next click on the move tool and right click on the dots. Go to Edit Style Layer. Play around with the glow and bevel settings to get your desired look.

Once you are happy with it, Create a New Layer. Now select the Rhinestone Brush. I used a dark purple as the color, but you can use anything you want that will show up the rhinestone nicely. Make sure to resize the brush to fit over the bevelled dots.

It should now look like a rhinestone. Zoom back out and make sure it's how you like it.

Now you can Merge or Flatten the image. As an added effect to add a bit of realism you can add the lens flare to a few of the crystals as the light would catch it. Personally, I prefer Photoscape to do the Lens Flare with, but any program that has Lens Flare will work. And Viola!

Thanks Jake How to Create Rhinestones 650269930 Haha. It didn't seem simple yesterday when I was trying to figure it out making that shot for Modello. It took me awhile to find a good rhinestone brush. I can't draw, so brushes are my next choice.

Very proud of the end results How to Create Rhinestones 650269930

The brush should go into Computer>Program Files>Adobe>Photoshop>Presets>Brushes

The abr files are the Photoshop brushes. They need to be converted to gbr in order to use them in GIMP.

You need the abrViewer to help you convert the files to .png before converting them to .gbr.

The tut on how to convert them is under the abrViewer link. If you follow that it will help you with convertting the files.

She has it laid out so it's easy to follow. There's a few steps, but definitely worth it.

Hehe. That's ok. I used to use the abrViewer before I got Photoshop Elements. And to be honest I got a Wacom Bamboo tablet when it was $100 bucks and Elements and 3 other editing programs came with it. Best thing I ever did lol.

Yeah it is. I'd prolly pay almost that much for just the copy of Elements alone. It would cost you about 63.3 pounds to get the tablet and programs.

Lovely, LE! Thanks! Was wondering how you did those and make them look so awesome.

Though, technically, you can just drop an .abr into your GIMP brushes folder, and it will read it. I never bother to convert mine, so you don't HAVE to. My hearts that I use in Delectable, those are a non-conerted .abr brush. (: But you CAN convert, and I think converting them does ease load time just a bit.

I think it has to do with GIMP being open source and all, so technically it can be allowed to be scripted so that it reads .abr files. And so people who came from photoshop were like "lolwut" so one of them changed it. :D

Though I didn't think it'd work either, so I tested it, and lo and behold, it did.

I just love that GIMP uses PS brushes, since I use both programs.

I honestly don't think I could go back to GIMP. I do have Paint.net and Photoscape. I use them on occasion.

I find that GIMP does everything Photoshop does, if you know how to do it and know how to install new scripts, but then again, I have PS7. If I got, like, CS5 or something, GIMP would be gathering dust LOL
